Professional Tour Manager Certification

The Professional Tour Manager Certification Course is comprised of 36 hours of in class study. Topics will include how the travel industry works, logistics in leading tours, speech preparation and delivery, as well as legal issues surrounding the job. Towards the end of the course participants conduct a 3 day tour motor coach tour where they will practice their newly learned skills in the field.

The objective is to train people interested in becoming a tour guide to be the best in their field! Our graduates are professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and ethical. At the end of the course each graduate receives one on one coaching with a consultant. We will help decide which Tour Operators would be appropriate as they move forward in the tour guiding career.

Anyone interested in guiding can participate in this course. It is highly interactive, providing an opportunity to learn from each other as well as the trainer. Both experienced and new Tour Managers will benefit from our new, creative approach to leading tours.

We provide our own "tricks of the trade" for leading tours. Each participant will receive a Tour Coach Package which includes coach games, daily/weekly task lists, commentary, music, passenger newsletters as well as templates. All you need to begin conducting coach tours today!

The concept of certification as a Tour Manager or Tour Guide has been in place for many years in other parts of the world. In Europe, Asia and South America a guide is often certified by a government body. Although this is not the case in Canada, there is no reason our guides can not be as good or better!

The significance and value of training has long been recognized. Consider the popular and often repeated quotation: "Give a person a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a person to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." This simple but profound saying is attributed to the wisdom of Confucius who lived in the 5th century BC.

Given today's travel climate and the exponential growth in technology with its effect on the economy and society at large, the need for training is more pronounced than ever. Tour Operators recognize the importance of highly trained staff. The consumer today has high expectations and demands a qualified, professional Tour Leader. Qualifying for the position is the first step to securing the job. When will you begin your second career?
